Student Mentorship Programs
Embarking on a career in a health profession requires specialized training and years of education. Choosing the right program can be overwhelming, and committing to a program that isn’t right for you can create an uphill battle.
As a health pre-professional student, this is one of the most important career decisions you’ll ever make. A solid medical education is essential to a successful career in your chosen field. However, navigating the unfamiliar landscape of medical, PA, dental, or pharmacy school on your own is difficult if you aren’t acquainted with how applications, acceptance, and the programs of study work.
Having a mentor who has been through the process can be invaluable as you begin your journey toward becoming a medical professional. At ACT, our student advisors can walk you through every facet of the application and educational journey to give you a competitive edge in finding the medical career you dream of, helping to cut through costly and time-consuming learning curves.
Our personalized student mentorship programs pair aspiring medical professionals with experts who work in your desired field. These student advisors been through the application, testing, and admissions processes. They’ve successfully completed post-graduate medical training programs and are working professionals who excel in your field of choice. In short, they’ve been where you are, and they know what it takes to get you through to the other side.
Mentors work with you to prepare you for every aspect of getting into—and excelling at—the medical program of your choice. Upon enrolling in our mentorship program, you will complete a detailed questionnaire, giving your mentor a clear glimpse into your experience, goals, and needs. From this, your mentor will create a customized mentorship program designed specifically for you. When you first meet via Zoom, you’ll review this plan and make any desired changes.
Student advisors will address your career goals, help you identify your strengths and weaknesses, and assist you in overcoming any educational challenges. They’ll set weekly goals to keep you focused on your end goal, teach you time management skills, and make sure you’re on schedule for any application deadlines. Mentors will guide you through the entire application process, including interview prep, a resume review, and constant feedback about your progress.
Throughout the mentorship program, you can consult with your mentor about the application process, what it’s like to go through medical, PA, dental, or pharmacy school, and what it’s like to be a working professional in the field.
Because they’ve been through it, they’re in a unique position to give you an honest and informed account of what it’s really like. Unlike college admissions consultants, who could have any kind of educational background, our mentors are experts and specialists in your desired field. Their insight and knowledge uniquely prepare you for the admissions and interview process and give you a leg up over other applicants.
Our Mentorship Programs
At ACT, we offer four field-specific student mentorship programs: pre-med student mentorships, a physician assistant mentorship program, dental mentorship programs, and a pharmacy mentorship program.
Once enrolled in one of our medical mentorship programs, you will be matched with a mentor whose strengths best meet your needs. With three different levels of mentorship available, you can choose exactly how much individualized communication with and guidance from your mentor you receive throughout the year-long program.
In addition to your advisor, you will also have access to our mentorship program portal, which includes field-specific resources, webinars, events, shadowing opportunities, and application tips.
Depending on the level you choose, your mentor can also help you to draft and edit a personal statement and write you a letter of reference.
Why Choose ACT?
Unlike college admissions consultants, who may work with dozens of students at once, our mentors give you one-on-one, individualized attention. You’ll form a personal relationship with your mentor through scheduled meetings and check-ins, so you’re never just another number.
